Guss de Lucca My name is Guss. I live in São Paulo, Brazil, where I am a journalist. On a dawn shift, walking through the bandcamp, I found this album and fell in love with the track "Natural Time". Despite the high value for the currency here, which is very undervalued, I decided that I needed this CD in my collection. Hugs. Favorite track: Natural Time.

Natural Time 03:50
Waitin like the night time for the day. Waitin like the actress for a play Waitin like a sailor for the winds to change, I’ll be patient while things rearrange. Longing like the desert for a rain. Longing like a blind man for a cane. Longing like a pony for a pasture of green, I’ll hold out til you come to me. Chorus: In our own natural time we’ll get together and it’ll be so fine. It may not go as planned but you can trust me to stand And allow our own natural time. Singin like a mama to her babe. Singin like a raven to a cave. Singin like the ocean to a whale so blue, I can always sing a song just for you. Smilin like a kid who just won. Smilin like when the dance first begun. Smilin like great grandpa at the town parade, I’ll hold out, til this distance fades

In Heaven 03:48
So I rode into the forest and I swam across the river All so I could see her, so I could feel joyous And the magic flowed from her much like clear water Reachin’ towards its mother, waves in the ocean Though the sun ain’t shinin’ we are smilin’ The beauty inside us feels like heaven Though the clouds are dumpin’ I won’t run inside I refuse my soul to hide cuz it feels like heaven So she said she was movin’ far across the water For to find her destiny for to blossom like a flower So I said goodbye then to my sweet soul sister Though I know not where I begin I feel the moment end With that sun a’ shinin’ we are together in The place we built from within and it feels like heaven My heart is whole again from just one weekend We all get what we put in this worldly heaven So she flew above the mountain and landed in the valley So I went lookin for my best friend cuz I couldn’t let go again When I found her address, bells did ring When we met eyes our voices sang Though the sun was shining we were all cryin Nearly full to burstin’ and it feels like heaven We are completed in every moment With every breath we breathe in we’re in heaven
3.
Tempted 04:17
Tempted, I like to be tempted, I ain’t broke but I’m mended, oh come on and give me some. Wasted, I had to stop and face it, you won’t embrace it, I ain’t the one. They’ll be times when I try to come back and run to you, but it won’t be fair, no that can’t be good Lonely, oh I’m not the only woman so lonely in this world. Haunted, oh I have been haunted by those things I wanted but could not get. Long gone to you I said so long, it wasn’t right on so now its dead And happy ever after was just a daydream, no not the real thing, and so it goes Goodbye I promise I won’t cry, I know you didn’t try and that’s where it ends. Happy I thought it was to be, that we could sing harmony to the sweetest tune, But honest I have to be honest and tell you its my guess we howled at the moon. Hoping that you might call me sometime, that your heart would be mine, oh such a damn fool. Sorry that you ever met me, you won’t make it easy, I’m tempted again!
4.
So much to do in so little time the night rolls into day These feet walk the soil and this mind it toils my whole damn life away Then I walk next to you with your heart so true I’m nearly blown to pieces Can you spare an hour or two of your time to walk my speed? Our feet so light this love takes flight in all of its beauty Its hard to know which way to go near or far ahead or behind So we take what we’ve got and we make us a spot to share and to pass the time Whenever you come through town be sure to come around your smiles always welcome here Tell me the tale of when you first set sail on this roller coaster ride How high have you been and what did you do when you found you had no place to hide For this richness of life makes the struggles and strife pass away in the pages of time We share this space like a warm embrace our expressions fill us up So lets drink to good health so grateful for this wealth of inspiration and life

She had nothin’ to do with his indifference With that shroud he had began And the two were of no blood relation Though they fought and bickered like they were kin By the roadside they made their wages Putting on a DAMN good show for any to stop and see Well now hell they played their hearts out even if no body came Him on the git fiddle her with a mando on her knee They heard hillbillies talkin bout willie nelson gettin busted down at the checkpoint on highway 10 You better go hide yer dope They’re just silly northwest hippy kids hitchin’ and bikin’ drivin’ rigs from coast to coast Searchin’ for hope In Bakersfield there was this tattooed chick Who played the ukulele like no body’s business So they let her sit in for a time But by the time they hit Kernville she’d threw a fit and It didn’t help that they’d all got lit on moonshine Nearly went blind Then in Tucson, Arizona she got bumped by a mop headed fiddle player fresh out of luck Played those strings like they would save his soul So then on they went, just those three, makin’ such a sweet harmony, Onlookers cried, their hearts had been made whole They’re searchin’ for hope (searchin’ for hope) They’re searchin’ for hope (searchin’ for hope) You seem like real nice kids now better go hide yer dope In madrid down on the turquoise trail The three nearly got thrown in jail For one particularly risqué and profitable show (you can imagine) But instead they rode bitch with three different bikers To infamous to be hitch hikers Who rode them all the way outta new mexico But then Austin saw them a real sad fate When voices raised in a heated debate The three they had to go their separate ways But they each kept a buskin’ and a travelin’ on Though the best of times were up and gone Lost somewhere between the canyons and the everglades They’re searchin’ for hope (searchin’ for hope) They’re searchin’ for hope (searchin’ for hope) You seem like real nice kids now better go hide yer dope

Come away with me darlin’ we’ll get us some wine Dance ‘neath the moon, praise the sun when it shines There’s never been a moment or a love so fine Come away with me darlin’, come away Stay with me pretty darlin’, we’ll have us some fun Round the campfire, on the subway, you’re my only one You’re my sweet lovin’ mama when the day is done Stay with me pretty darlin’, stay with me Come n dance sweet darlin’, we’ll swing cross the floor Two steps and waltzes there’s always time for one more You’ll whisper sweetly to me and we’ll twirl out the door Come n dance sweet darlin’, dance with me Take my hand little darlin’ come in from the cold Some days are tough ones and they’ll keep us real bold Long as we keep on laughin’ we’ll never get too old Take my hand little darlin’ take my hand Be my one Be my only We’ll make us a life Build a farm Raise a family Stick together day and night No matter how late or early It always feels so right Come away with me darling Please stay with me darlin’ We’ll make us a life

When the soul has found you and the heart opens wide You’ll be pleased to find what lies inside. There’s no use in hiding, it’s already far to late The stars long ago had decided your fate. Your feet find his so naturally in stride, your hand fits so perfectly inside, But it can’t be found cuz it’s always around, this love of mine. We step outside now for one last cigarette But the best part hasn’t even come yet. And it never will, no we’ll never fade, Just grow and grow with each new day. Your lips as sweet as that first sip of red wine, so familiar yet so different every time, But it can be taught, and no it won’t be taught, this love of mine.

Washed clothes on the line, there’s a fresh cool breeze The sun’s shinin bright down on through the leaves Though you’re on my mind in the valley I’ll stay With a smile in my heart knowing you’re on your way For all through the daytime we pay our dues With the sweat on our brow, the work on our hands, we wear out our shoes We may all wander but may we not fall When there’s a smile in our hearts there’s comfort for all Many a tune have I sang before Yes I’ve poured out my heart from shore to shore Well was it for love or for to ease my pain? There’s a smile in my heart it was not in vain Be kind to your friends and all strangers too For this life is short and we are what we do Come on and free up your mind and dance neath the moon There’ll be a smile in your heart all the way to your tomb

about

If there is one thing I hope all who listen will take away from this album it is:

Dreams come true when you least expect them and it's never too late to lean into your passion and create art that exceeds what you could have imagined. Anything is possible as long as you keep your heart and mind open and put in the time working on yourself.

A solo album has always been on my bucket list and the start of this one back in the spring of 2017 caught me off guard. I had set aside my musical career to pursue continuing my professional development as an equine facilitated learning instructor performing when opportunities presented themselves but not seeking out gigs or new opportunities to develop my music. Some of the most fortuitous opportunities cross our path when we are not looking for them at all, and this album is proof of that.

I'm grateful to be sharing this special collection of songs with the world and honored at the support of my incredible community including all my friends and family in starting, working on and completing this project. Even if I'm not naming your name you know who you are, friend who came to as many of my shows as you could and always shared my events, I couldn't have become the person I am who is putting out this record without you! Special thanks to my husband Vance for always encouraging me to pursue my passions including putting in late nights and long drives to keep music in my life. Here are a few more friends that deserve many thanks: Stone Jones for always believing in me even when I didn't believe in myself and Tom McKay dear friend and creator and manager of OGS Records for helping me bring this thing to the finish line.
